DVLA Policy on Registration

Where possible we apply for age related registrations on our imported Land Rovers.

This is fairly straightforward as all come with chassis numbers, dating letters from The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust and NOVA confirmation (NOVA - Notification Of Vehicle ArrivaL - is required before the DVLA will register an imorted vehicle and confirms the necessary duty and VAT has been paid on import).

For first registrations (rather than retaining a registration) DVLA policy is that the vehicle must be complete and able to drive under it's own power before they will allocate a registration.

Clearly some of our Series 1's are not drivable and so need to be restored to running condition before applying to The DVLA.

We therefore sell some with dating letter and NOVA rather than registration. We will always assist customers with future registrations when the Land Rover is running.

 

Minerva Land Rovers

1952 - 1954

We generally have a good selection of LHD Minerva Jeeps - based on the Land Rover Series 1 80 inch

- but significantly cheaper.

Built using the 2 litre Land Rover engine and running gear plus many other parts they make an excellent entry level classic.

 

 

 

Produced by Minerva of Belgium under licence from Rover based on the 80 inch and 86 inch Land Rovers.

When Belgium's army needed a lightweight 4×4 vehicle,Minerva approached Rover in the spring of 1951. On 21 June, Rover discovered that they were competing against Willys Jeep for the contract. In October 1951, the deal was agreed and in 1952, the Minerva-Land Rover was produced. Both 80" and 86" models were made until production ended in 1956.

The Rover company supplied technical support for Minerva and allowed Minerva to produce Land Rovers under licence to Rover.

The bodywork is all steel (they do ride better with the extra weight), but apart from the wings, grill and tailgate are very similar in appearance to 80 inch Land Rovers with many panels interchangable.

Based on the Series 1 80" the Belgain built Minerva offers excellent value for money for what is basically an 80" Series 1 Land Rover

Lovely condition, ready to use, new canvas and

seats.

The front wings and radiator panel can be changed to give them a Series 1 look although with values rising and a shortage of decent vehicles - original Minervas are a sound investment
